Surrey County Council's Golden Boot Challenge

The annual Golden Boot Challenge is designed to raise awareness of the issues surrounding school travel and to encourage children, parents and schools to choose sustainable alternatives to the car on school journeys. First launched in 2002 with 56 schools taking part, the 2004 campaign has seen 146 schools and over 29,OOO pupils across Surrey participating, and is one of the largest school travel campaigns to be held across the country.
The campaign is to be presented to the DfT and the DfES as an example of good practise to be shared nationally with other local authorities. The campaign's evaluation report can be downloaded here.
