A simple guide to some of the phrases often used in road safety, but rarely explained.

DfT - Department for Transport

DSA -  Driving Standards Agency

GATSO - a fixed position safety camera widely used around the UK.

JRSO - Junior Road Safety Officer (usually primary school pupils).

KSI - killed or seriously injured (casualties).

RSO - Road Safety Officer.

SCP - School Crossing Patrol (or 'lollipop' man or woman!).

SPECS - a safety camera system that measures average speed.

TfL - Transport for London.

TIE - Theatre in Education.

WRRS - work-related road safety.
