Road safety for PSHE and Citizenship classes
Developed by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA), 'In the Driving Seat' is an award-winning resource for Key Stage 4 Personal Social Health & Economic (PSHE)/Citizenship teaching. It is designed to help students of 14-18 years of age understand how their behaviour and attitudes affect outcomes through a film about a group of young people who are learning to drive.
The teacher’s pack includes:
• A DVD divided into four episodes
• Structured lesson plans for each episode
• Suggested activities for completion of the modules
• Support materials including a welcome document outlining the resource, aide-memoire on the characters, character evolution document, a fact sheet about DSA and feedback form.
In the Driving Seat maps very closely to the latest PSHE/Citizenship curricula, is suitable for SQA’s Safe Road User Award and is based closely on DSA’s National Driving Standard which is known to contribute to young people’s safety.
