Bike safety show attracts 4,500 visitors
Warwickshire County Council and Warwickshire Police have heralded the second annual Heart of England Bike Show a great success.
The event was held at the Heritage Motor Centre near Gaydon on Sunday 9 May to promote responsible riding and improve riders’ skills and confidence through advice and training.
Stephen Rumble, Warwickshire’s road safety unit, said: “Thousands of motorcycling enthusiasts turned out and I am sure that every visitor took away something positive from the event.
“Warwickshire BikeSafe completed more than 100 assessed guided ride-outs. Nearly 50 new, young and inexperienced riders took instruction in the ‘Try-Before-You-Buy’ zone and more than 50 signed up for a motorcycling taster session with the ‘GET ON’ campaign.
“Our own Take Control training scheme, together with RoSPA, IAM (Institute of Advanced Motoring) and a number of Warwickshire-based motorcycle training schools were all kept busy and reported a good take up of post-test training courses and assessment days.
“We estimate that nearly 4,500 visitors attended, slightly more than last year.”
