Monday 7th September 2009

Southend’s road safety team is working in partnership with Essex Fire and Rescue and Essex Police to pilot a new initiative for pre and young drivers.

Cruz Control, which takes place on 14 September, includes a BMX stunt rider displaying cycle safety, a road safety drama, an educational quiz and a crash scene re-enactment.

Representatives from the Drug Action Team, Trading Standards and the DSA will also be in attendance.

Following on from the event, Essex Fire and Rescue Service will be offering classroom session to reinforce messages delivered on the day.

In response to James (Hull), it's a bit of a blanket statement. How a message is put across can be as important as the message itself in capturing the imagination. Individuals will always take away from these events information that is relevant to their own situation.

Pre-driver sessions are a waste of resources. There is not one place in the whole wide world where they have been found to be useful. Smell the coffee...times are hard!
