Bank Holiday poses risks for bikers

RideSafe BackSafe is urging drivers to ‘think bike’ and be patient over the coming Bank Holiday weekend.

RideSafe BackSafe is concerned that a number of factors may increase the risk of collisions and casualties over the Bank Holiday.

Shelby Williams, spokesperson, says: “Our region attracts more than its fair share of holidaymakers and an increased volume of traffic usually means slower speeds. This can lead to impatience, frustration and poor decision-making.

“When traffic is stationary, drivers sometimes u-turn and find another route. This is not necessarily wrong, but they must check all mirrors as motorcycles are often filtering through, and this has caused a number of close calls.”
