Leeds installs 'biker friendly' crash barrier

Leeds City Council has become one of the first authorities in the UK to fit the 'Bikeguard' barrier system to standard crash barrier.

BikeGuard is installed at a number of locations throughout the UK where accidents involving motorcyclists had resulted in death or serious injury, including along the A54 near Buxton in Derbyshire.

The system works by preventing a dismounted rider from coming into contact with the upright supporting pillars of conventional crash barriers. In Leeds, it has been fitted pro-actively to a section of national speed limit slip road where there is a tight bend.

For further information contact Dave Glanville on 0113 24 75804.
