Mother’s Day promise by students

A poet in County Mayo (Ireland) has written a poem for Mother’s Day in a bid to save lives.

Peter Costello’s poem, My Promise, comprises a promise by a son or daughter to drive safely. It was printed on Mother’s Day cards distributed to secondary schools for students to give to their mothers.

Peter Costello said: ‘‘I have spoken to many grieving parents after losing a love one and I hope this poem will make young drivers and their parents stop and think of safety.”

For further information contact Noel Gibbons, RSO.
