Irish crash drivers to face breath test

All drivers involved in accidents will face mandatory breath-testing for alcohol - regardless of whether or not they were responsible for the crash - under new road safety legislation in Ireland.

The Department of Transport has confirmed that the Road Traffic Bill, due to be published this spring, will provide for compulsory testing of all drivers involved in a collision.

Noel Brett, chief executive of the Road Safety Authority (RSA), said he believed the legislation would 'impact significantly' on driver behaviour.
