Hermes joins Colas and Siemens as national conference sponsors

Hermes has joined Colas and Siemens to become the third co-sponsor of the 2011 Road Safety GB national conference.

The conference, titled ‘Road safety in changing times’, is being hosted by Road Safety GB North West Region. The event will take place in Chester, 15-16 November. 130 people have already registered to attend the event which will be restricted to around 200 delegates and 20 exhibitors.

Hermes is the UK's largest home delivery courier network handling more than 115 million collections and deliveries per annum. Hermes works with companies of all sizes including leading high street, direct catalogue and online retailers including Next Directory, Readers Digest, Lakeland Limited and ASOS.

In the UK, Hermes operates a network of more than 7,500 lifestyle couriers that provides flexible, high-quality doorstep delivery, combined with a friendly and local approach. Hermes provides an innovative range of delivery solutions that include next day delivery, parcel returns, SMS messaging and real time management information.

Colas has renewed its sponsorship for a second year, and having exhibited at the 2010 event Siemens has stepped up to become a sponsor in 2011. Money raised through sponsorship is being used to cover the cost of staging the event, and to offer subsidised places to Road Safety GB members.

Alan Kennedy, chair of Road Safety GB said: “This is fantastic news for both parties. We now have three world-class commercial partners for our national conference. We are delighted that companies of such high calibre are keen to work with us to support Britain’s road safety professionals, who are admired and respected across the globe.

“The investment by our sponsors has enabled us to subsidise the delegate rate, which means that some road safety officers are attending when they may not otherwise have been able to.

“Our conference has gone from strength to strength in the past few years and this year’s event looks set to continue this trend.”

Comment It's great news that a nationwide company like Hermes are taking road safety seriously - gives us some reason to be optimistic! Hopefully we can do lots more with them in the future.
John Billington, Sandwell

Comment Interesting term 'lifestyle couriers'. I think it means self-employed delivery drivers.
Adam, Hants
