Alison Williams
Presentation: A Cast of Hundreds, an Audience of Thousands: delivering road safety to achieve results and impacts
Alison has worked for Warwickshire County Council for 25 years in a number of roles within the Economy and Environment Directorate and is currently road safety advisor – community projects.
Alison first moved to road safety in 1996, principally looking at events, publicity and TravelWise. Between 1998 and 2003 she led further sustainability campaigns in the Directorate, before returning to road safety as promotions and publicity officer.
Over the years her role has developed and her focus has been on specific projects for vulnerable road users including motorcyclists and elderly drivers.
As a member of the Early Years and Key Stage 1 and 2 Road Safety Delivery Group, Alison is currently developing an holistic approach to children from birth to age seven years, and their parents. Elements of this project include The Building Blocks, The Little Green Bear Club, School Crossing Patrol, People who Help Us, KerbSafe and Junior Road Safety Officers.
In a joint presentation with her colleague Mike Holdsworth, Alison will explain why Warwickshire County Council has reviewed all road safety education and training initiatives in the 0-11 years age group, and how the authority is using the review findings.
She will also explain what we is being done to harness the enthusiasm and experience of others, empowering them to help the road safety team provide quality road safety education for this age group.
